Waves Along the Sea: Epilogue: What happens afterwards, and what does not
A baby cried, and its mother smiled, looking down at the cute little angel in her arms. It was a sweet little thing, a little small, but anyone could tell it was beaming with happiness.
The mother was reluctant to let go of her darling, but she had to, as it was put in its little hat and outfit, wrapped in a blanket and placed among all the other babies. The little girl slept for a while, ignorant of her parents and relatives staring at her, as well as others, searching for their own kin.
Then, a new baby was brought it and placed next to her, waking up and looking at the new girl next to her. For this first time in her life, she smiled. It was a toothless smile, but it was full of pure feelings.
The new girl looked over wide-eyed, a bit surprised, if she could even understand that feeling, and then began to wriggle in her blankets, eventually freeing herself. She scooted over to the other girl, and the two were completely happy.

Playing in a park, a little three year-old was playing with a ball while her parents watched silently. Her head was covered with short, wavy hair. Throwing the ball a bit too far, it hit another girl on the head.
Running over to the girl, she asked for her ball back, not even apologizing. The other little girl leaned her head to the side, her short red hair covering her face a little bit. She grabbed the ball and asked, Hey, wanna play tagethur? she lisped, not having two front teeth.
The wavy haired girl grinned, showing that she had her teeth and said, Okays! The girls began playing wit the ball, their parents watching over them and smiling at the new friendship.
When it was time to go, the girls begged their parents to stay. The parents talked to each other and arranged to come back tomorrow so the girls could play again.

First day of kindergarten, and the two girls walked into the class, hand in hand. The were grinning, dressed identically in little red dresses with flowers. Though it looked good on both girls, it looked different. One had long, wavy brown hair that went down her back, and the other had short, fiery red hair chopped ultra short.
Im Melly, And Im Jessy, the girls said, one after another. They were excited, after all, it was there first day of school, and they were together.
Throughout the day, they played, made new friends, but always stayed together. The teacher was concerned, and tried to separate them, but nothing worked. No matter what, the two girls would not leave each other.
At the end of the school day, the teacher tried talking to the parents, who told her that it was impossible. As long as they didnt cause trouble, they shouldnt be bothered over their friendship. After all, how often did people, no matter what age, become that close?
After that, the teacher didnt bother them, and sighed when it was apparent that, though they were always together, they didnt exclude other children, and played with them eagerly.

Mells, cmon! Were gonna be late! Jessy called through the bathroom door. They needed to get going early, otherwise they would be stuck in all the lines. It was theyre 13th birthday together, and their parents had agreed to let them go to Disney Land, all by themselves. It was only 6 am, but that didnt stop Jessy from wanting to get a head start.
Ill be out in a minute! Melly called as she hurriedly brushed her hair and tied it back. Her hair was so long at this point, it went past her waist, and took forever to comb. Finally, she finished putting it into a braid and came out, though only with a bra covering her top.
Jeez, get dressed already. We shouldve been gone by now! Jessy complained even more to hide the strange embarrassment she felt at the moment.
Melly took a quick look over at Jessy and saw that she was dressed in bright red. Going over to her room, she grabbed a red t-shirt and slipped it on, Ok, ready!
Then came the process of badgering the Mellys parents to get up. They had stayed over at her house so that they could go together. Melly lived, by maybe 15 minutes, closer to Disney Land, but that was all the time they needed to make their descision.
Mellys Dad slumped out and got ready before driving them there. He gave Melly his cell phone to call home when they were ready to leave, and a credit car for food and toys and whatever.
The girls giggled as they waited in line. They had the VIP passes, so they got inside early. The first thing they went to was Indiana Jones, the never ending line.
The rest of the day passed in a blur of rides, junk food, parades and shows. By the end, they were both in a sugar coma waiting for Mellys dad to pick them up.
During the ride home, they fell asleep, their heads resting atop each other, looking like two sleeping angels.

The first year of high school was now over. No more school for 3 months, a reason to celebrate for sure. Over all the years, the two girls were still as close as ever. The only thing that really changed was their bodies, their voices, and their hair. Instead of Jessy having short hair, she was now growing hers out, and it was almost past her shoulders. Mellys was short and really curly, though it suited her, a somewhat 20s hairstyle
well, 1920s that was.
On the beach, they walked hand in hand, each licking an ice-cream cone. Melly had decided something that day, and was really praying she would be happy by the end of it.
Hey, Jessy
she somewhat mumbled.
Hmm? she looked at her friend as she gave her cone another lick.
She gulped a little bit before continuing, Well, um. You know how
well, neither of us have ever had
like, I dont know
a boyfriend or anything?
Jessy shrugged, Yeah, I guess. And?
Well
I sorta figured out why
I mean, for me at least
why Ive never, well, had one.
Jessy stopped, making Melly stop as well. Staring at her blankly she asked, And why is that.
Taking a big bite of her ice-cream, yes, she bit her ice-cream, she liked eating it that way, she swallowed and said, Well
because I
I dont like guys. Well, I mean, I like them, as friends as stuff, like Brad and stuff
but just not, you know
romantical and stuff like that.
So, who DO you like, romantical and all?
I
I like
you, she looked down and blushed, not being able to make eye contact with her best friend.
Jessy shrugged and said, I like you too.
Mellys eyes bulged, You
you do?
Yeah, I have since Disney Land
I think. At least, thats when I started thinking about it.
Well, um
what now?
Were together, thats what.
Melly smiled, Ok, were together.
Through this entire conversation, they had been holding hands. Now though, to the public, the hands meant something different. To each other though, they had the same meaning as always. Best friends who loved each other no mater what.

So once again, two in love are brought together. The wrongs of the past are righted and everything seems right in the world.
The rest of the story is a simple one. The graduate and go to college, get married, because its legal now, and live out their days together, loving each other and their two children.
The details inbetween: What they studied? Who proposed to who? Who carried the children? None of them matter really.
All that really matters is this: That they lived long and happy lives.
